Wasnt That A Trade Show!
Suite Success 2000
Thursday, October 26, 2000 marked the first time the Suite Success Trade Show was held in its new venue. Because of the growing interest in our Trade Show we were forced to find a larger facility to more comfortably accommodate our Exhibitors. The Big Four Building on the Stampede grounds proved to be the ideal location.
There were numerous compliments from exhibitors about the increased size of their booths. The spaciousness allowed them to showcase their products and services in an open environment that encouraged visitors to stop by. Numerous visitors also provided positive and supportive comments about the size of the show floor area.
It was truly amazing to see the wide variety of industry-related professionals who support our owner and property manager members by providing such a wide array of essential products and services.
Events such as our Trade Show are only possible through the time, effort and significant contribution made by our dedicated team of outstanding volunteers. What is remarkable is that all of these tremendous volunteers are extremely busy professional people, yet they make time to help. Their assistance to the CAA and the residential rental industry is truly appreciated by all of our members.
Lauretta Kaechele did an outstanding job again this year as the Chair of the Trade Show Committee. She provided excellent leadership and worked closely with an extraordinary team of committee volunteers.
The morning and afternoon seminars were extremely well attended and we thank our two seminar speakers for donating their time to share their knowledge and expertise with our members. Detective Steve Walton from the Calgary Police Service Drug Unit made an exceptional presentation about drugs, entitled I had no idea: Drugs in my Building. More than 75 people attended this highly educational and informative presentation. The afternoon seminar was presented by Richard John, CAA Board Member and lawyer, who spoke about the fourteen day notice and some very recent changes in interpretation by one of the Masters in the Courts. His highly informative presentation to more than 100 people generated a great deal of discussion and many questions from those in attendance.
The luncheon was a huge success, as well over 220 people attended. Our guest speaker, Mr. Tim Zehring, of the Mesa, Arizona Police Department, delivered an extremely informative presentation about the Crime Free Multi Housing Program. He spoke of the effectiveness, benefits and growing interest and participation in this crime prevention and public safety program designed specifically for multi family. This program is currently functioning in Calgary and Edmonton as well as in many cities across Canada and the United States.
We thank all of our sponsors for their continued support of the CAA and our Trade Show. Your contribution of prizes, food and beverage enhanced the success of this show tremendously and your generosity is truly appreciated.
To all of you who contributed to our charity of record this year, the Calgary Drop-In Centre, thank you. Because of your kindness, more than $1000 was raised.
A very special thank you goes to Pat Evans, our very competent Executive Assistant who worked tirelessly making sure that all of the Exhibitors needs were met. We are indeed fortunate to have such a friendly, talented and well organized lady as a member of our team.
Start planning now and well see you all at next years show!
